| Research Description | Dr. Pantophlet's research interest is in vaccine immunology. Research work in Dr. Pantophlet's laboratory is focused on investigating antibody responses to HIV and other viruses of biomedical interest (e.g. influenza), particularly in the context of host-virus interactions and anti-viral antibody responses. The long-term goal of Dr. Pantophlet's research is to apply knowledge gained from studying the interactions of antibodies with infectious agents to the 'rational' design of immunogens that may be developed into modern pre-clinical vaccine candidates and, ultimately, new and better vaccines to protect public health. |

| Research Description | Stuart Poyntz’ research interests include children and the media, theories of the public sphere, and transformative pedagogical theories and practices, particularly in relation to digital media technologies. He has an extensive background in the history of media literacy, nationally and internationally, and has also written on Canadian cinema and on the relationship between film and historical representation. He has published in the Canadian Journal of Education and the Journal of Curriculum Theorizing (forthcoming) and has presented papers at the American Educational Research Association, the Canadian Cultural Studies Association, the Canadian Society for Studies in Education, and the International Conference on Imagination and Education. He completed his BA at Queen’s University and his MA in the School of Communication at SFU and his Ph.D. in the Department of Curriculum Studies at UBC. |
