Research DescriptionOur research group conducts research about all aspects of information technology in the health sector.
Much of our research has been concerned with issues and challenges associated with the design and implementation of electronic health record systems, as well as challanges associated with developing information technology infrastructures that can
support the development of health sector data that are meaningful for decision makers and health researchers.
CollaborationsHave worked with a broad range of partners from health authorities to community clinics, and have conducted studies in varied clinical areas and contexts including emergency rooms, intensive care units, community clinics and in remote and rural areas.

He was the chief executive of British Columbia Transplant from 1994-2009, during which it was awarded he Canada Award for Excellence from the National Quality Institute. Research DescriptionTo better understand the offending process of sex offenders in analyzing the entire criminal event, that is the combination of the offender, the victim, and the context.
To identify and develop sex offender classifications and scripts that can be used in clinical practice as well as in psychological and geographic profiling.
To verify how psychological, environmental, and situational factors influence the modus operandi of sex offenders.
To explore how deviant sexual fantasies and preferences develop in sex offenders and how it is related to the offending process.
To learn more about the decision making of sex offenders related to their offending process and to identify crime prevention strategies for potential victims.

Research DescriptionWe study many aspects of the genetics of fish and humans.
One study is funded by National Institutes of Health, in which we are developing animal genetic models
for Human Idiopathic Scoliosis, using laboratory fish species.
We are also studying human variation for antibody genes, and how this affects susceptibility
to autoimmune and infectious diseases. Finally we are looking at the genetic effects of salmon farms on wild salmon populations.
